I’m not saying that WordPress is number one or whatever that you are using right there is at least number two or below.
I had not tried other platforms such as Typepad or Joomla but I had enough with hosting on other people server such as the post which I mentioned about the disadvantages of Blogger and WordPress.com.
Probably you have a better blogging platform out there but if you don’t and you are looking for one, check out my 7 points to WordPress.
- Plenty of themes out there. I can’t really tell the number of themes that you can find for a WordPress blog but it is really a lot out there. Personally, I run the Genesis Framework from Studiopress, which is a Premium theme and find it cool due to the design, flexibility and ease of use. I will tell you about this theme in my future post.
- Countless plugins. Plugins is something that are installed into your WordPress blog to enhance the blog in terms of everything depending on the type of plugin that you used. Due to the huge demand, there are many paid plugins today but there are even more free plugins for you to choose.
- Contents are safe. You no longer have to worry that the Blogger or WordPress.com will take down your site one day because you are not hosting with them anymore. Your contents are with your web hosting now and they don’t have any reason to take your contents away. Why? Because you are paying them monthly to host your site and they are having recurring income from there.
- I can run Adsense safely. As I mentioned before, I wanted to earn money from Adsense. As a result, knowing the hosting on WordPress.com is restricted to certain advertisement especially Adsense, it is a better idea for me to host my blog outside.
- Everything is customizable. I can personalize the entire blog because I have the total control over the customization for instance the footer, header, sidebar, secondary sidebar, you name it.
- Easy to install and use. You might had heard of this everywhere when people talk about how easy to use and install the WordPress is. I just want to clarify again with you that it is really so. The only difficult thing is if you want to create your own theme or plugin where that will be the place more efforts are needed. If you just want to blog, there isn’t anything that is difficult
- Not only free, but Open Source. When you talk about free and open source, there is a little different here. A free product which is usually given by a company who does commercial product always have a limitation. You might not enjoy certain features or update and will need to pay to enjoy them. Open source on the other half, you not only get to enjoy the full features, but source code as well. This is crucial because if you have the source code, your business can always expand by hiring some good developers.
Of course WordPress is not a 100% product. In fact, there isn’t a 100% product anyway. Everything has its good and bad and I believe WordPress had been used by so many bloggers our there, the bad about it is not really a lot.
If you are not too sure what blogging platform you should go for, why not get yourself a hosting and start with it now. You can cancel it if you feel that it is not suitable to you.
