I had been migrating a lot these days.
For instance, I had moved from Aweber to GetResponse and now, I am moving my blog away from Hostgator.
So, what’s wrong?
Firstly, it is the performance that I am concerned of.
Hostgator had been great in terms of performance until the day where EIG bought over them.
I had been using Hostgator at least 2 years where recently, this blog had been performing badly in terms of page/site load.
I even enabled and sign up for a CDN but that doesn’t change a thing.
Secondly is the up time.
Within this year itself, I had already submitted two requests to get a month of free web hosting for the failure of Hostgator in supplying a 99.9% availability.
Even though I get to enjoy free hosting as a result for such availability, but it was not fun at all when you can’t access your own website.
As a result, I started to do some information gathering and it seems that not only me, but many hostgator users are facing the same issues.
Due to that, I decided to switch to another web hosting.

My web hosting choices
There are Bluehost, Hostmonster, JustHost and many more out there but I didn’t choose any of them simply because they under the same father company, EIG.
On top of that, I read bad reviews about them as well although most bloggers out there still think that these EIG web hosting companies are awesome.
Hence, I had given up hopes on all the ordinary web hosting companies and started to look for Managed WordPress Hosting instead.
What is Managed WordPress Hosting?
The Managed Hosting is a sort of hosting as well, but they focused into hosting WordPress site and they don’t come cheap.
Due to that, the main disadvantage is that they don’t provide other kind of hosting features such as email, cPanel and etc.
On top of that, you are not only limited to access certain files via FTP, you are also forbidden in activating certain WordPress plugins.
However on the bright side, Managed WordPress hosting is fast, reliable (so far…) and most importantly, premium quality for paying premium price.
So, after analyzing a couple of Managed Hosting, I come to the conclusion to host my site with Flywheel.
Now, why Flywheel?
To be very frank, my first option had always been Websynthesis. This is because I had been a great fan of Copyblogger and I believe that they always deliver premium quality with premium price.
However, due to budget constraint, I decided to look for an alternative instead. Hosting my blog for $27.00 a month is crazy because that is like 5 times the price I host on Hostgator.
After hours of searching, I had decided to give Flywheel a try.
I can’t give any solid reason why I choose Flywheel and not any other cheaper Managed WordPress hosting but I can say that overall they had been great.
The performance, availability and support had been in good condition so far where I have nothing to complain for except that it took more than 24 hours to migrate my site although they mentioned within 24 hours.
And for your information, it costs $15.00 a month and that is quite cheap for a Managed WordPress Hosting solution.
Will I still recommend Hostgator?
I had been recommending Hostgator to my readers and that will NOT change my mind even after my bad experience simply because every new blogger will need a cheap web hosting to start with and Hostgator is definitely categorized as one of them compared to Managed WordPress Hosting.
On top of that, if you are an existing Hostgator customer and did not experience what I had, that is fine as well because probably I am the unlucky one who happen to be placed on a not-so-good server.
However, if your site is generating sufficient revenue or not able to tolerate any performance or availability problem, migrating to Managed Hosting is most likely the best choice for you.
Apart from Websynthesis, you can also check out WPEngine which is pretty popular as well among professional blogger.
